Summer has finally arrived in Norfolk and temperatures this weekend are set to be higher than in parts of Spain.

A cold front brought one of the coldest starts to June in four years with temperatures up to 5C below the monthly average.

Temperatures have been steadily rising throughout the week with the potential for the hottest day of the year so far in the coming days.

A Met Office spokesperson said: “After a brief, less settled, interlude on Friday and Saturday, fine conditions will return by Sunday and into next week.

"For much of the UK, this will be accompanied by a boost in temperatures with many places reaching the mid-20Cs by the middle of next week."

There is a small chance parts of the county could reach the heatwave threshold which is when temperatures hit 25C on three consecutive days.

Thetford is the most likely contender with temperatures of 23C on Sunday and 25C at the start of next week, hotter than Barcelona's high of 21C.

The Met Office spokesman added: “Whether or not everyone experiences heatwave thresholds, the majority of the UK will experience the finest conditions and highest temperatures so far this year.”
