Yahoo News North East hospice calls for 'daredevils' to jump out of plane to raise funds
A North East hospice is inviting thrill-seekers to participate in a skydiving event as part of a fundraising initiative.
Alice House Hospice, dedicated to those impacted by incurable illnesses and loss, has spaces available for the August 14 challenge at Shotton Airfield.
The daring leap will see participants free-falling from heights of up to 10,000 feet, under the guidance of an qualified instructor who will be attached via a harness throughout the descent, which should last approximately five minutes.

Each skydiver is asked to raise £450 as a sponsorship target, with the hospice asking for £75 of that to paid upfront.
Alice House, in Hartlepool, has carried out skydiving challenges in the past, which have been successful in generating much-needed funds.
The 2024 event raised over £25,000 and has been tackled by the hospice's chair of trustees and CEO in recent years.
The Hospice’s co-chief executive officer, Nicky Haggan said: "As someone who has worked at Alice House for more than 20 years, I have taken part in my fair share of fundraisers, but nothing compares to the skydive I took part in last year.
"From start to finish it was totally breath-taking."
