An Anglesey pub has officially been named as the best in Wales. The Bull's Head Inn, located in Beaumaris on Anglesey, was awarded the title at this year's National Pub and Bar Awards.

The competition acknowledged 94 pubs and bars from across the UK back in April. Alongside the Bull's Head, seven other Welsh pubs made the cut, including The Sun Hotel in Powys and Britannia Inn in Gower.

This list was then narrowed down to 13 winners in each broader region, which were announced at the grand final of the awards that took place on Wednesday, June 26 in London. One of them - The George Inn in Norton St Philip - was also named the overall UK winner.

The Bull's Head, known for its real ales and live music, is a favourite amongst locals and tourists alike. Situated in the very centre of town on Castle Street, it dates back to the 15th century and retains all the character and charm it has gathered over the last 550 years, reports Wales Online.

Its listed bar is adorned with an array of memorabilia, including antique weaponry and reputedly the town's original ducking stool. You can stop by for food including breakfast, light bites, and dinner- or spend the night in its range of rooms.

The National Pub and Bar Awards, sponsored by Tyrrells, were held on Wednesday evening, where other awards were also presented. Castle Rock Brewery in Nottingham was named Pub Group of the Year, whilst Bar Group of the Year went to The Blues Kitchen.
