The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning covering parts of Northern Ireland later this weekend. The alert has been issued for Co Derry, Co Fermanagh, Co Tyrone, and parts of Co Armagh.

Although a warm few days have been forecast for NI with highs reaching 22C, showers with potential isolated thunderstorms can be expected in parts on Sunday, May 12.

The thunderstorm warning will come into force at 11am and will remain in force until 7pm. The forecaster said: "Slow moving, heavy showers with a risk of isolated thunderstorms may develop over the west of Northern Ireland from late on Sunday morning.

"Many areas will miss the heaviest showers altogether, but a few places could see 30-40 mm in the space of an hour or two, possibly accompanied by some hail.

"Should they develop, the showers are likely to fade and die out during the evening."

Earlier in the weekend, a maximum temperature of 21C is predicted on Friday.

For tonight, it's set to stay dry dry throughout the night with long clear periods. It will also feel mild in a light southerly breeze, with a minimum temperature of 9C.

And for Saturday, May 11, the Met Office said: "The day will begin dry and bright but cloud will thicken in the west from the afternoon. Maximum temperature 22C." This high is forecast for areas including Derry, Ballymena, and Portrush.
