A murder probe has been launched after a young man was repeatedly stabbed by a gang of thugs on mopeds in a “brutal” attack on a west London street.

The 18-year-old victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition following the attack in Northolt on Saturday but today died from his injuries, police said.

Scotland Yard have described the attack, which happened just yards from where Abdullahi, 19, was killed in April, as “brutal” and “pre-planned”.

The victim is believed to have been chased by a gang of youths riding scooters before being repeatedly stabbed with a large knife in Newnham Close, detectives added.

A neighbour said: “There was screaming and shouting it was horrifying.

“The next thing I knew there were police everywhere and teenagers running around. It was chaos.”

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh said the man’s attackers were “intent on inflicting fatal injuries”.

A 17-year-old man was arrested on Monday and has since been bailed to a date in mid-December.

DCI McHugh said: "This was a brutal and apparently pre-planned attack on a young man. He was stabbed multiple times with a large knife with his attackers intent on inflicting fatal injuries.

"At this early stage it is believed that a group was involved in the attack on the young victim. They are understood to have arrived on two scooters before chasing the victim, stabbing him and then returning to their scooters and riding off.

“There are people out there who know who was involved and what they did. I need them to call us as soon as possible. Equally, if you were there or passing through the area and have not yet spoken to police, I would implore you to get in touch."

The stabbing took place on the same small street where Mr Tarabi was knifed to death in April.

Abdullahi collapsed in an alleyway after being knifed in the stomach as he fled two people near his home in Northolt. Two teenagers aged 17 were cleared of his murder after a two week trial last month.
