Nottingham Forest's preparations for the 2024/25 campaign could begin with a major change, following suggestions that Nuno Espirito Santo's future at the club may not be certain.

Yesterday, the Portuguese manager ensured the full completion of the task he was brought in to do as Forest retained their Premier League status for a third consecutive season. Afterwards he spoke in detail about the challenges of such an experience, about summer transfers and ultimately how the club can escape the lower reaches of the table moving on from this year.

But now has come the bombshell that Nuno may not even be around to oversee the project, as claimed by Fabrizio Romano. The reporter suggested on Monday morning that the manager's 'future at Forest is still open', with there being 'a chance' of his departure at the end of discussions with the club's ownership.

It would certainly come as a shock to supporters, who have displayed a mixed reaction to the possibility via X, formerly Twitter. NottinghamshireLive looks at what some had to say...

@GrapsTalk: "Been mostly won over by Nuno past few weeks. We've struggled but he was dealt a bad hand and still kept us up easily in the end. Think he deserves a proper pre-season and a transfer window to get the team playing how he clearly wants to play."

@taztheuke: "I'd definitely like to keep him... but if the club or Nuno aren't sure about each other... which must be the case given the story and Fabs links to Marinakis/Mendes... need to make the change ASAP."

@ForestNotSoMag: "ONE NORMAL DAY OF FOREST PLEASE!!!"

@Jt7526268560263: "He's done his job I don't mind him at all! BUT the celebration at the end of yesterday's win shown his heart isn't at Forest! Couldn't be more grateful for him keeping us in the league."

@williambroome: "I mean. It's not been perfect. But. He's had AFCON, points deduction, VAR to deal with. Marinakis should probably be focused on shifting some dead wood and sorting the squad out. Get a proper pre-season in Sangare too."

@forest_jay: "I wouldn't be surprised either way. I must admit I've flip flopped on my opinion of him."

@MichelNFFC4: "Just give the man a pre season and a fresh start with no points deduction and let's see what happens."

@Gump1865: "Very much Nuno in for me, give the man a full pre season."

@JordanHooley3: "Need the right replacement, but I'm really not fussed if he goes to be honest."

@sorrywhatpardon: "He's done a brilliant job in the circumstances. Stick with him."

@mattwheelerdj: "If he goes fair enough, if he stays also fair enough, we've improved under him, been unlucky, need to sort out set pieces no matter who's in charge. Just if we do change has to be early, and not halfway through the season, and be some old has been manager."

@jtweets1865: "Tell you what Forest really need... more instability."
