Corinthians manager Antonio Oliveira has banished Carlos Miguel amid claims he faked injury ahead of his expected transfer to Nottingham Forest.

The Reds look set to sign goalkeeper Miguel from the Brazilian club this summer as the club addresses its goalkeeper department. And it all looks to have turned ugly for the 25-year-old at Corinthians.

It is said Miguel complained of ankle problems ahead of Corinthians’ match against Athletico Paranaense last weekend, but was cleared to play by club doctors who could not detect any injury. Despite being given the green light to play, Miguel was not in Oliveira’s squad for Sunday’s match.

And the Corinthians manager made his feelings towards Miguel clear after the match, saying: “No, Carlos Miguel no longer plays for Corinthians. I’ve said it and I’ve said it in this group. Only those who want to be here at the club do it passionately, and many of those who are in this position today should realise that many people dream of being able to represent one of the biggest clubs.

“It bothered me, it bothers me, and Carlos Miguel won’t be playing for Corinthians any more.”
