Novak Djokovic will end Kyle Edmund’s dream en route to the Wimbledon 2018 final, says Goran Ivanisevic
Kyle Edmund has been warned by former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic that his bid for glory will come crashing to a halt.
The British No1 reached the third round for the first time with a 6-4, 7-6, 6-2 victory against American Bradley Klahn on Centre Court.
The last Briton left in the singles can expect a return to Centre Court when he faces Novak Djokovic, who lost just six games en route to a 90-minute win over Horacio Zeballos, in the next round.

But Ivanisevic told Standard Sport: “Novak was my pick from his half of the draw to make it to the final before the tournament and, from what I’ve seen so far, that opinion has not changed.
“Kyle has been getting better with every week and I’ve been impressed by him this season but Novak’s getting back to his best and he has too much for him.
“Okay, he struggled in the quarter-finals of the French Open but he looked to be playing much better and was much more focused at Queen’s. If anything, having those match points in the final at Queen’s and not making them count might have helped.”
Edmund and Djokovic have already met once this season at the Madrid Open, Edmund winning that encounter in three sets.
But Ivanisevic believes that Djokovic, who has struggled to recapture his best form since an elbow injury, has improved markedly since then.
“With Novak, you can see the belief building up with every match,” said the 2001 Wimbledon champion, who is coaching Milos Raonic at this year’s championships.
“At Queen’s, he maybe got a little bit tired in the third set but here he looks good physically. And the confidence is growing because a lot of seeds have gone in his part of the draw, so that makes things easier.”

Depending on the order of play, the pair’s match could potentially clash with England’s World Cup quarter-final against Sweden.
Edmund was advised by Ivanisevic to use a similar mentality to Gareth Southgate’s men and the other sides left in the last eight.
“He’s had two easier matches and now it’s like he’s gone from the World Cup group stages to the knock-out stages,” added the Croat.
“Before, he could get away with mistakes, like England. It’s like when the teams are better, one mistake and you’re out. You have to play better, be more focused and get in the rhythm.
