NSW Police Raid Homes of Alleged Gang Members Across Newcastle and Sydney

NSW police raided the homes of numerous alleged outlaw motorcycle gang members on Thursday, May 18, seizing firearms, weapons, and drugs at 15 separate properties in Newcastle and Sydney.

In a statement police said officers from the Gangs Squad and Strike Force Raptor raided the properties after “violent acts” occurred in relation to what they believed was a dispute between rival gangs.

Multiple people were arrested followed searches at four homes in the Lake Macquarie area on May 18 and one property in Wilberforce in the Hawkesbury region on May 19. On Saturday, May 20, several homes were raided across Sydney, relating to firearm prohibition orders issued to 10 men – aged between 30 and 58 – who are members and associates of Finks and Nomad OMCGs.

A Salamander Bay resort was also searched by investigators on May 20, where 20 members of the Finks OMCG were issued with consorting warnings.

“The Gangs Squad and Strike Force Raptor have been working closely with police across the Hunter Region to reduce the impact of OMCG activities,” Acting Gangs Squad Commander Detective Acting Superintendent John Walke said.
