Bloating can be very uncomfortable.

Not only can it cause tummy pain and gas, it can also make it tricky to fit into clothing and move around easily. But thankfully, there are ways to reduce the problem.

On TikTok, holistic nutritionist Marlowe shared one simple ingredient she uses to ease bloating. The expert – who posts using the name Glow By Marlow – swears by drinking diluted apple cider vinegar once or twice a day.

In a recent clip, she recommended: "If you add one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to a tall glass of water and drink this before meals, you'll stimulate your body to produce more digestive enzymes.

"This means you're going to digest your food better, be less likely to bloat or feel uncomfortable after eating and absorb certain nutrients better. Additionally, ACV before meals also aids in blood sugar regulation. So it's a really simple habit to get into."

Marlowe's video has garnered more than 2.3 million views since it was posted. Many also took to the comments section to say the hack had helped them.

One wrote: "I do this every morning, really starting to like the taste." A second gushed: "This helped with my bloating so much." And a third advised: "Yes! But drink with a straw and no damage for teeth."

Others were more sceptical about the advice though – and said the apple cider vinegar did not agree with them.

A responder admitted: "Ma’am I tried this and couldn’t eat for one hour because it made me nauseous as hell." And another wrote: "I feel like gagging after drinking this the first time."

If you're looking to beat bloating, the NHS has also offered some helpful advice. The health organisation recommends exercising regularly to aid digestion.

You should also chew with your mouth closed to avoid swallowing air and drink plenty of water to help everything pass through the body nicely.

Eating high-fibre meals, which aren't too big in size, should also help with digestion. Then if you're feeling bloated, you can massage your stomach from right to left to ease trapped wind.

The NHS warns those who are suffering from bloating to avoid fizzy drinks, alcohol and caffeine where possible. Cutting back on greasy, processed and gassy foods is also recommended. To prevent feeling bloated, it's better to consume smaller meals earlier in the evening.
