Oddfellows help RNLI and MIND with raffles

A regional friendship group has donated to two charities as a result of fundraising efforts.

King’s Lynn Oddfellows, a group with around 390 members that aims to combat loneliness for retirees, handed £1,500 to Norfolk and Waveney Mind and RNLI Sheringham Lifeboat Station.

The money was gathered from donations and raffles during member meetings throughout the year.

Each year, the group’s chairman selects charitable organisations for fundraising focus.

Chairman Roger Williamson said: “I chose Norfolk and Waveney Mind because I am aware of the ever-increasing problems of how mental health issues are affecting society today, particularly among the younger generation."

Lee Dade, resource centre manager at Norfolk and Waveney Mind’s REST Hub, said: “Norfolk and Waveney Mind is incredibly grateful for this generous donation and appreciates the hard work of the Oddfellows who have contributed to support some of our services."

The Oddfellows has long been a supporter of the RNLI Sheringham Lifeboat Station, with three lifeboats and essential equipment donated by the Society so far.

The group engages in an array of affordable events around the King’s Lynn and West Norfolk area.
