Ofcom is investigating Channel 4 after an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s Hotel Hell which included a sweary rant was broadcast at 11am on Channel 4.

The series sees famously foul-mouthed Ramsey visit failing hotels and B&Bs to give the owners a dose of his ruthless advice and hopefully help them get back on track.

But this particular episode was even more expletive-laden than usual, with the word f*** used six times in quick succession.

Ofcom received 19 complaints about the show, a spokesperson for the broadcasting regulators said: “We're investigating the use of offensive language before the watershed."

The show was pulled off air after 15 minutes due to complaints made by viewers, many of whom shared their confusion on social media.

However, some couldn’t see what all the fuss was about, with Carol Shaw tweeting “there’s a clue in the name of the programme.”

Channel 4 explained that they had mistakenly aired a post-watershed version of the show. A spokesperson stated:

“Due to human error the first part of an unedited version of the programme was aired pre-watershed.

"The programme was quickly removed from the schedule and the continuity announcer apologised to viewers. We are responding to Ofcom as part of their investigation."
