Oldest monorail in England to celebrate 50th anniversary with special guests

The classic children's characters, the Wombles, will be returning to Beaulieu on July 31 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of England's oldest monorail.

The day will feature special guests, live entertainment and activities, as well as a competition where guests can share their memories of the monorail over the past half century.

The Wombles first opened the monorail in 1974 and will be posing for photos and discussing environmental care.

There will also be a Monorail exhibition featuring a film by Lord Montagu. Activities run from 10.30am to 3pm and are included in the general admission ticket.
