Olly Murs 'overwhelmed' by support after opening up on feud with twin brother

Olly Murs has been overcome by the amount of support he’s received after publicly discussing his feud with his twin brother Ben, whom he hasn't spoken to in years.

He became visibly emotional as he opened up on the rift between himself and brother on an episode of The Voice UK aired earlier this year when a twin act auditioned.

The singer has said the reaction he received on social media was "overwhelming" as people got in touch to tell them about their own family estrangements.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the 35-year-old shared: "It was probably the one time I've been on to Twitter and it was actually nice, there was some positive stuff being written on there. The support was overwhelming if I'm honest."

The Dance With Me Tonight hitmaker told the publication he "didn't expect to show those emotions" on the programme and that his family were "shocked" by it.

He added that fans had said they recognised they "needed to make a change" when it came to their family relationships, with Murs commenting: "I still want to make that change with my brother."

The sibling's rift began when Murs was a contestant on The X Factor in 2009 and chose to prepare for the final over his brother's wedding where he was due to be best man.

On The Voice UK in January, Murs shared: "I feel like the next time I’m going to see him is when we lose somebody close in our family, and I don’t want that to be the case.

“I’ve got no idea where he lives.”

Back in 2017, it was reported that Ben had changed his last name to his wife's surname, Hart, in order to distance himself from his family.

He later criticised his mother, Vicky-Lynn, for speaking about the troubles within the family after she claimed their relationship has been strained for some time.
