Jennifer Morrison (Emma Swan) and Jared S Gilmore (young Henry Mills) have already been confirmed to be popping up early in season seven.

Gilmore will feature in (at least) the season seven premiere to set up the time jump. The adult version of Henry is played by Andrew J West.

"Henry's the author of the first book, but he wants to go to the place where the happy ending isn't written," showrunner Edward Kitsis explained.

Meanwhile, Morrison returned to the set last week to shoot her season seven guest spot – which she described as her "last day".

The actress also shared selfies with Gilmore and Colin O'Donoghue (Hook) – and given that episode two will feature flashbacks centred on Hook, we wouldn't be surprised if fans see Emma, young Henry and Hook sharing scenes together one more time.

"We meet Colin in new circumstances in the premiere, but in the second episode, we really delve into what happened to him and there's a flashback story centred around Hook which explains a lot," showrunner Adam Horowitz previously teased.

With Emma, young Henry and Belle all returning (albeit briefly), we're now just waiting for news that Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow), Josh Dallas (Charming) and Rebecca Mader (Zelena) will swing by for the rebooted seventh season.

In the meantime, aside from a new Henry, fans should expect to see new series regulars Alison Fernandez (Henry's daughter Lucy), Dania Ramirez (a new Cinderella) and Gabrielle Anwar (Lady Tremaine aka Cinderella's wicked stepmother) take centre stage when the show returns.

And of course, Lana Parrilla (the Evil Queen) and Robert Carlyle (Rumplestiltskin) will also be back as part of the main cast alongside O'Donoghue.

Once Upon a Time season seven will launch on Friday, October 6 on ABC in the US.
