The One Show presenter Alex Jones has revealed she went to hospital after becoming concerned about her unborn baby.

Jones took to Instagram today to share a picture of herself in a hospital bed with a monitor over her bump.

Expressing concern about the baby’s wellbeing, she wrote in the post: “Hadn’t felt much movement from the baby from a few days so lying here being monitored.”

However, she reassured her followers by adding: “If in doubt mammas, always check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat.”

Jones and her husband, insurance broker Charlie Thomson, are expecting their second child together; the married couple already have 2-year-old son Teddy.

Jones broke the news of her pregnancy live on The One Show in December, telling viewers:”Now I have some news! No I haven’t been eating all the mince pies! There is a little baby, look! I am expecting another baby.”

Previously, Jones opened up about the struggles of being a mother for the first time and how she had problems with breastfeeding.

“I tried really hard to breastfeed, but I had no idea it would be so excruciatingly painful,” she told The Daily Mail. “Often I’d be feeding with tears cascading down my cheeks.”

She also admitted that the birth of their first son initially affected her marriage with Thompson, but it has since made their relationship stronger.

“Charlie is a fantastic support and now I think our relationship is a lot stronger because of Ted, but we struggled to find a way to even like each other sometimes in those early days.”

“Once I sat upstairs in our bedroom for about four hours trying to feed Ted, feeling so upset and isolated.

“Or there would be nights when I was waking to feed Ted every two hours; Charlie would be snoring beside me while I felt murderous. It’s not your partner’s fault he can’t breastfeed, but it’s tough.”
