Alex Jones has announced she's taking a break from The One Show. The 47-year-old presenter took to social media on Tuesday (April 9) to share a message with fans on Instagram. She shared a snap from behind the scenes of the BBC magazine show before sharing her own news, the Daily Star reports.

She wrote: "The face of a woman who is off on holiday. Thank you for watching this week and especially for all the lovely comments about last night's One Big Thank you. The team is the best at finding the great stories. It was an emotional one."

Revealing that she'd miss her viewers, Alex added: "Still on @bbciplayer if you missed it. Back on @bbctheoneshow a week on Monday. Miss you." It has been reported that Alex's co-star Jermaine Jenas will present the show with Lauren Laverne while the mother-of-three enjoys a well-deserved break away from the famous green sofa.

Fans rushed to flood Alex with compliments in the comment section, with one writing: "Have a lovely break! See you on the other side. PS was perusing this suit just the other day. Love it." A second wrote: "Not many could pull that off but classy as always, have a great holiday!" "Looking gorgeous girl have a lovely holiday," said a third. While a fourth commented: "Enjoy your much earned holiday."

Over the weekend Alex shared her family's holiday preparation as she gave an insight into packing suitcases for a family of five. She posted a picture of her three children, Teddy, Kit, and Annie, looking out of a window at an airport. A plane could be seen in the background as Alex simply wrote: "Excitement mounting..."

The TV star is married to New Zealand native Charlie Thomson. The pair met back in 2011 at a party before tying the knot in 2015 in an intimate, private ceremony. Alex joined The One Show back in 2010 with Matt Baker. At the time she replaced Christine Lampard.

The One Show continues weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
