Orlando Bloom has sent a message to Liverpool following his Comic Con appearance.

The event's headline line guest has been enjoying himself in the city over the weekend, with former Lord of the Rings co-stars. He was spotted having a meal in Liverpool restaurant New Capital, on Nelson Street last night, having previously enjoyed a night on Smithdown Road.

During today's Comic Con event, he had a message for the city after speaking to fans. Among the local fans eager to meet the star were Matilda and Liza. Liza dressed up as Arwen, a character from Lord of the Rings, to meet Orlando.

She told the ECHO: “We told him ‘Welcome to Liverpool’, and he said ‘thanks for having me!’” Fans have been stunned at meeting the Hollywood superstar over the weekend.

Mario and Marco, a father and son from Germany, told the ECHO that they were surprised at how kind Orlando was. Mario said: “I was surprised at how much time he took to got to know us and how kind he was. We are huge fans and came all the way from Germany and he was really interested to hear about where we were from.”

Cara, 25, said it was “absolutely mad” meeting him. She added: “I’ve never met anybody that famous before. He was just so nice.”

Sharon, from just outside Glasgow, had brought a Lego display for Orlando to sign. She told us it was her 26-year-old nephew’s, but that she was bringing it as he was at work. She said Orlando “took a picture” of the display to “try and get one for himself!”

Sharon also had three film cell posters which had all four of the Hobbit actor’s signatures, with the addition of Andy Serkis and now Orlando Bloom. Kirstie was also at Comic Con with her mother, Christine. It was Christine’s first ever Comic Con, and she said she came because of Orlando Bloom, adding: “I didn’t want to let go! He was really nice. He engaged, he made the effort.”

One couple had brought their daughter, also dressed as Arwen, to meet the star. They said he “spoke to her the most” and could tell “he was nice.” Eleanor was another fan who met Orlando. She said: “He called me love and I was like oh my god!”

She added: “He was dead nice. I mean it’s obviously quite quick, but he was really nice.”

Emma and Rebecca Rogers, 40, who are identical twins, said that Orlando made them laugh by asking: ‘Are you two related?’ Emma said: “We had a joke with him and pretended that we weren’t. He found that really funny.”
