Outernet marks Diwali as it begins a series of celebrations in collaboration with the mayor
The capital’s major cultural holidays and festivals will be celebrated on the giant screens of Outernet in a partnership with the Mayor of London.
The tourist attraction, which includes 23,000 square feet of wrap-around, floor-to-ceiling 16k-enabled screens outside Tottenham Court Road tube station, will start with a celebration of Diwali with specially designed graphics.
It will then move on to celebrate holidays and holy days including Chanukah, Christmas, Lunar New Year, St George’s Day, Vaisakhi, Eid and more.
Philip O’Ferrall, CEO Outernet Global, said: “From the outset, Outernet was designed to be a place for all to come. With this campaign we are proud to work with the mayor and his team to display on our screens a campaign that is all about the inclusivity that makes London such a fantastic place.
"The actual designs look stunning and the story is the one that that can never be told enough.”
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said: “Our diversity is our greatest strength, so I’m delighted to partner with Outernet to send messages of celebration to our communities on these big screens in central London.
"Starting with Diwali last night – part of London's Diwali celebrations which are some of the largest outside India – we will be marking a wide range of key cultural and community festivals to show that our capital is for everyone, as we build a better London for all.”
The Outernet’s bosses say it is on target to be the number one visitor attraction in the UK less than a year after opening as footfall continues to grow at the West End site.
