Panama City Residents in Awe of Neighborhood Damage the Morning After Michael

Residents of Seneca Avenue in Panama City, Florida, assessed the widespread damage to their neighborhood on October 11, the morning after Hurricane Michael made landfall on Florida’s panhandle.

Josh Champion wrote in an Instagram post that it took them and their neighbors two days to clear roadways through their neighborhood. “It would’ve taken much longer to get out,” Josh Champion said in an email to Storyful. “But we worked with our neighbors using axes, small chainsaws, hatchets, machetes, handsaws, and whatever else we could find. It was us and 2 volunteers who own a tree service in Tampa that finally cleared an entrance, so the National Guard could finally gain access.” Credit: @emeraldcoastchef via Storyful
