What Paris Hilton said to Leeds United players from her private jet ahead of play-off final

A number of celebrity supporters of Leeds United have sent in messages of support for the club ahead of their Championship play-off final against Southampton at Wembley Stadium this afternoon.

The Whites are hoping to secure their first-ever win at the new Wembley Stadium, having only played there once back in the 2007/08 season where they lost 1-0 against Doncaster Rovers in the League One play-off final, but this time things feel different. Daniel Farke's side has managed to do things the hard way, after hopes of automatic promotion were snatched away from them following a poor run of form to end the season.

Just two wins in their last eight league games condemned Leeds to the play-offs as Ipswich Town and Championship winners Leicester City secured themselves a spot in the Premier League next season but now Farke's side have given themselves a lifeline. Following a 0-0 draw in the first leg at Carrow Road, a 4-0 thrashing of Norwich City at home made sure the Whites are going to Wembley brimming with confidence.

Their opponents will be Russell Martin's Southampton side, a team that bested them twice throughout the course of the regular season but all that matters now is that they win where it matters most - and with £140m and a place back in the top flight on the line, Leeds are looking to reclaim their place in the Premier League at the first time of asking.

With more than 36,000 Leeds supporters making their way down to London for the final, there are many celebrities who are also cheering on the club this weekend. One of those is American television star and businesswoman Paris Hilton, who is an avid supporter of the Whites and she sent the club a video of her support.

In a tweet posted by the club, she said: "Hey Leeds, it's Paris. Just wanted to leave this message for you guys to say good luck with your game this weekend and I'll be rooting for you wearing my jersey!"

Also in the video are a number of former Leeds stars, including both Mateusz Klich and Gjanni Alioski who played for the club the last time they were promoted back to the Premier League in the Championship-winning 2019/20 campaign. Club legend Eddie Gray also made an appearance, as he willed on the players by saying: "Just want to wish the boys all the best at Wembley, it's a big game, bring it home."

Comedian and actor Will Ferrell, who is a minority investor in the club, also sent a message of support in his own way by purposely only showing the Yorkshire rose on his Leeds United hat as he said: "I just want you guys to know that everyone here at Leeds are so excited and we know you can do it. We know you can pull through! Lets go boys, lets go!"

PDC Darts World Champion Luke Humphries, comedian John Richardson and Kaiser Chiefs guitarist Simon Rix were all also featured in the video wishing the players good luck and hoping for a positive result.
