Paris Jackson has given a rare insight into her childhood as the daughter of "King of Pop" Michael Jackson.

Speaking to Naomi Campbell as part of the supermodel’s No Filter YouTube series, the 22-year-old recognised she had a very privileged childhood, but said her father always kept her grounded and instilled a strong work ethic in her and her siblings.

“My dad was really good about making sure we were cultured, making sure we were educated, and not just showing us like the glitz and glam, like hotel hopping, five-star places," she said.

"It was also like, we saw everything. We saw third-world countries. We saw every part of the spectrum.”

Campbell responded: “I think that’s so important because you can teach that through books, but if you can see it first-hand, there’s nothing more valuable than that.”

Later in the interview, Jackson circled back to her childhood and the importance of working for what they wanted: “Even growing up it was about earning stuff. If we wanted five toys from FAO Schwarz or Toys 'R' Us, we had to read five books.

"It's earning it, not just being entitled to certain things or thinking 'oh I got this'.

"It's like working for it, working hard for it, it's something else entirely. It's an accomplishment.”

Supermodel Campbell went on to ask her about the fashion world and how she has tried her hand at modelling.

Jackson said: “I'd been told for a long time, with my height and my genetic make-up, that I could pursue modelling. So I decided to finally take that advice and start modelling. I felt at the time that would be the most effective way to grow my platform so I could use it for good.”

Jackson was only 11 when her father died. She has an older brother, Prince, 24, and a younger half-brother, Prince Michael "Blanket" Jackson II.

The pop icon's only daughter has followed in her father's footsteps and released her debut album Wilted in November 2020.

Paris told the Associated Press in October that she hopes the album will help people feel 'a little less lonely' amid the COVID pandemic.

She said: “I found so much healing through creating this. And there are moments where I'll listen back to certain songs and I'm like, 'Wow I was so naïve.'

"But for the most part, it's just like so much gratitude and joy that I get from listening to these songs and just seeing the development and the evolution.”
