TRAIN passengers are being reminded to check before they travel ahead of upcoming weekday rail upgrades.

Changes to weekday train services between Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds will be in place from June 24 to July 20, according to Network Rail.

The changes to weekday services come amid work as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade, a programme of rail upgrades between Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and York.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "Weekend services remain unaffected but passengers are urged to plan ahead if travelling between Huddersfield and Leeds during the week.

"The upgrades include track renewals, environmental and ground surveys, drainage, signal verifications and construction work.

"Passengers will be kept on the move via diversionary routes and rail replacement bus services, and are encouraged to check nationalrail.co.uk to plan their journey."
