Paul Hollywood announces split from wife Alexandra after nearly 20 years of marriage

Paul Hollywood has announced his separation from wife Alexandra after nearly 20 years of marriage.

The Great British Bake Off judge confirmed the split in an official statement on Monday, saying that they now wanted to focus on the “happiness” of their son.

“It is with sadness that we have decided to separate,” read the joint statement.

“Our focus continues to be the happiness of our son, and we would ask the press and public to allow us privacy as a family during this very difficult time.”Paul Pro bak

Hollywood sparked controversy last month when he was spotted kissing last year’s GBBO winner, Candice Brown, although she later insisted that it was simply a “goodbye peck”.

After photos of the pair emerged, the newly-engaged baker wrote on Twitter: "(1/2) So invisibility cloaks are real. I was so sure you were there all night too!! @StaceySolomon @ShelaghFogarty @Poppy_Talent.

“(2/2) No kisses or hugs hello or goodbye from now on- handshakes or waves only!”

The TV star briefly separated from his wife back in 2013 after he admitted to having an affair with Marcela Valladolid, who was his co-host on the short-lived US version of the show.

They reconciled after just a few months and Hollywood told fans that their marriage was back on track after making "the biggest mistake of my life".

The professional baker married Alexandra, who is also a chef, back in 1998 and they have one teenage son.
