Peaky Blinders airs its final ever episode this Sunday and an ominous trailer released ahead of it shows the drama will still be unfolding right until the very end.

The sixth and final season of the BBC One drama has seen some catastrophic moments for the Shelbys so far - it opened with the killing of Aunt Polly to write out late star Helen McCrory, has included Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) burying his daughter, and viewers were shocked to hear him diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Of course, the gangland actions of the family have continued too, and it looks as though the storyline strands will culminate in one hugely dramatic final episode this weekend.

In a trailer released on Twitter, a voiceover says: "Family...sometimes they shelter from the storm, sometimes it is the storm itself."

Tommy's second wife Lizzie, played by Natasha O'Keeffe, can also be heard telling him: "You are cursed, Tommy."

Peaky Blinders' main character had suspected as much himself, as after his daughter's death and his health diagnosis he was shown remembering Aunt Polly's words that the family would be cursed.

He has also become convinced that a Roma curse is the source of all of his problems and tragedies.

At the end of the finale trailer as a plane battles through stormy skies, gunfire explodes through the streets and Tommy is shown looking concerned, the voiceover says: "Shall we witness the final act?"

Tommy will face danger from within his own family as his cousin Michael Gray (Finn Cole) has been intent on avenging Polly's death, which he sees as Tommy's fault, since episode one.

He has also grown jealous of the Shelby business and Tommy's plans to leave it in the care of his sons, and is hatching plans for a hostile takeover.

Peaky Blinders' last ever episode airs on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
