Pedestrian dead after crash on W Front Street in Tyler

UPDATE: Officials with Tyler police said the pedestrian in the crash, 79-year-old Evencio Arellano, has died.

Front Street is now open for regular traffic, police said.


TYLER, Texas (KETK) – Eastbound traffic on a portion of W. Front Street is closed Monday morning after a pedestrian crash.

According to Tyler police, the crash happened in the 1800 block of W. Front Street and all eastbound traffic is closed from Lyons Avenue to Peach Avenue.

Officials said that as of 8:40 a.m. emergency personnel are in the roadway, and the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The car involved remained on scene, according to authorities, and the crash reportedly did not happen at a crosswalk or intersection.

The case remains under investigation.
