PEEL Ports has issued a statement after swing bridges in Warrington became stuck open this week.

On Wednesday, the faults on swing bridges on both Chester Road and Knutsford Road caused ‘utter carnage’.

There was heavy traffic in the area, both in and out of south Warrington, with particularly long queues on Wilderspool Causeway, London Road, and Chester Road.

The Warrington Guardian asked Peel Ports, who is responsible for the maintenance of these bridges and the one in Stockton Heath, for a comment on the issue.

A spokesperson said: “The Chester Road and Knutsford Road bridges had minor faults on Wednesday that we quickly repaired.”
