Person rushed to hospital after injury on train tracks near Sheerness

A person has been taken to hospital after being injured on train tracks on the Isle of Sheppey. Services between Sittingbourne and Sheerness were disrupted from around 9am on Saturday, May 18 following the incident near Queenborough railway station.

Trains along the line were halted while emergency services, including officers from the British Transport Police and paramedics, attended the scene. Railway replacement buses were deployed to accommodate Southeastern passengers while trains were unable to run.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Queenborough railway station at around 8.56am on Saturday (18 May) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended, and a person was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”

The incident was cleared and the line re-opened shortly before 11am. Trains returned to their normal schedules soon after.
