A main road in Weymouth is to be temporarily closed.

Preston Road will be shut between its junctions with Overcombe Corner and Westerhall for overnight road maintenance works. The stretch of road affected is 2,115 metres long.

This part of the road will be shut from 8pm to 5am, with the work due to be started on Thursday, July 11.

It is anticipated that the works will be completed by Tuesday, July 16.

The temporary road closure order will enable Safe Mark Highways on behalf of RMS and WJ Lining to carry out asphalt preservation and lining.

An alternative vehicular route will be signed using: B3155 - A353 - A354 - B3159.

The order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users.
