Peter Andre has claimed he was groped in the groin area by fans at a private gig, but said he dismissed it as “harmless fun”.

The Mysterious Girl singer recounted the incident in his latest weekly column for New magazine.

The 46-year-old was performing at a private party for millionaire cosmetic surgeon Dr Nyla Raja in Cheshire when some of the fans in attendance got over-excited.

He wrote: "A few of the ladies - and even one guy - got a bit drunk and grabbed me in a certain place during the performance, but I see it as them having a bit of harmless fun.”

Andre also wrote that there were some celebrity names at the private event, including The Only Way is Essex cast member Amber Turner and Danielle Fogarty - daughter of Superbike racer Carl Fogarty.

The veteran performer told his readers that the guests were treated to him dancing on the tables while singing hit Mysterious Girl.

He joked that “it’s the Greek in me” that was responsible for his impromptu dance moves.

Although Andre was able to dismiss the actions of fans on this occasion, he wrote earlier this year that he was left terrified by a “scary stalker” during his early fame in Australia.

He said the fan even threatened to kill themselves if he didn’t reply to her and added that “you can’t discount” the fact these actions may become more serious.

“Let’s not forget John Lennon was killed by an obsessive fan,” he wrote.

Andre is currently taking to theatres across the UK as Teen Angel in a touring production of Grease.

He recently joked that his wife Emily has hit him with a sex ban after he admitted he was feeling broody after the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child.

Earlier this year, he announced he had signed with a new management agency in America in the hope of increasing his profile across the Atlantic.
