Peter Andre says racist abuse he experienced as a child influences his appearance

Peter Andre has opened up on the racist experiences he suffered during his childhood in Australia and how it still affects him today.

The 47-year-old was born in the UK to Greek Cypriot parents before the family relocated to Australia when he was six years old.

The Sun reports the Mysterious Girl singer spoke about the abuse in conversation with brother Danny during an instalment of his video series Life With The Andres.

"We suffered racism bad as kids and called greasy w**s. I was beaten quite a few times from kids at the school," he said.

As a result of the tormenting, Andre claims he still can’t face wearing his hair with its natural texture.

"To this day I don’t wear my hair curly purely because when I look in the mirror I see what those kids used to call me, even now at 47 years old. You'd think I'd be over it,” the father of four remarked.

Last year, in a video for The Diana Award charity Andre told of how bullying had led him to consider taking his own life.

He explained that he "stuck out" at school due to his Mediterranean background and English accent which led to taunting and physical abuse.

"When you're a kid with dark hair, dark eyes, strong English accent, much bigger nose than the kids around you, I was an outcast like you wouldn't believe," he said.

After success in the UK charts in the 90s, Andre returned to the country of his birth and has made it his permanent home.

He shares two children with ex wife Katie Price, Junior, 15, and Princess, 12, as well as another son and daughter, Theo, three and six-year-old Amelia, with Emily Andrea.

Although, he may be adding to his brood soon as he’s said he plans on having another child before he turns 50.
