Pilots escape serious injury after Second World War heritage plane crash lands in field

Watch: Emergency services have rushed to a field after a heritage WW2 plane crashed

A Second World War plane was left in pieces after it crash landed in Somerset on Wednesday.

The heritage Hawker Sea Fury's propeller was separated from the rest of the aircraft when it plummeted into a field in Limington on Wednesday afternoon, under a mile from Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but nobody was hurt in the crash.

The Navy Wings charity, which flies historic aircraft, said the plane made a "precautionary forced landing" in a field after a problem with its engine.

It said both pilots were safe and well and were taken to hospital for check-up and added that an investigation had been launched into the cause of the crash.
