An Edinburgh shop is set to become a restaurant under new plans.

The unit, at 33B Haddington Road, Leith Walk, currently operates as Sleep Bed and Sofa Centre. It's been a furniture shop, under various names, since the early ' 00s.

Details of the potential new eatery have not been released by GQ Wood Architects, who submitted the plans to the council.

Currently, the ground floor of the unit is an open retail space. Downstairs, there's storage space with two toilets.

Under new plans, the ground floor would be transformed to include a small kitchen. There would also be 14 tables for diners.

Plans also include installing female, male and accesible toilets as well as staff toilets.

A second, from Paul Croan, states: "Bought a couple of pieces of them. High quality and competitive prices."

Prior to Sleep Bed and Sofa, the unit operated as Home Max Furniture for some time. Plans are yet to be approved by Edinburgh Council.
