Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard on the bench again for Northern Ireland

Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard did not get the chance to add to his eight appearances for Northern Ireland when they beat Andorra 2-0 in a friendly international played in Murcia, Spain.

The 27-year-old was an unused substitute, as he had been for the 5-1 defeat by Spain in Mallorca on Saturday. Bailey Peacock-Farrell played the whole of both games and had a much quieter time of it against Andorra as he did not have a shot on target to deal with.

Hazard will now have a short summer break before returning for pre-season training with Argyle, under new head coach Wayne Rooney, next month.

Hazard is likely to continue to be part of Michael O'Neill's Northern Ireland squad when they begin their UEFA Nations League Group C3 campaign in September.

They will start with a game against Luxembourg at Windsor Park, Belfast, on Thursday, September 5 before playing away to Bulgaria on Sunday, September 8. The other team in the group are Belarus.

Argyle defender Brendan Galloway again was not involved in the Zimbabwe squad when they lost 3-1 to South Africa in a 2026 World Cup qualifier in Bloemfontein last night.

He had been called up for back-to-back games against Lesotho, which ended in a 2-1 defeat, and South Africa but played no part in either.

There is still one Argyle player away on international duty. That is striker Ben Waine, who is with New Zealand for the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation) Nations Cup tournament.

New Zealand should have played their first Group A game on Saturday but opponents New Caledonia have withdrawn from the competition due to civil unrest in their country.

It means New Zealand will play just two group matches, against Solomon Island on Tuesday, June 18 and Vanuatu on Friday, June 21. Both will be played in Port Vila, the capital city of Vanuatu.
