Police ask owner of 34 rubbish bags filled with cannabis to come forward… through TWITTER

It’s not your typical tweet.

But in an effort to locate the owner of 34 rubbish bags will with cannabis, one police force has taken to Twitter.

New South Wales Police in Australia used its official Twitter page to make an unexpected plea.

It asked the owner of the drugs to come forward on social media.

In the tweet, it wrote: ‘Lost & Found! Do you own these 34 bags of cannabis found at Terrey Hills?

‘Visit local police to claim.

‘We’d love to hear from you’.

It’s a bold tactic, but as the police said itself in a follow-up tweet, ‘It’s worth a try’.

The tweet has been retweeted more than 350 and has more than 450 likes.

The bags of cannabis were seized by police on Saturday evening after a member of the public found them dumped in bushland in Terrey Hills, a suburb of Sydney.

Police have not revealed the weight of the haul but said they will carry out a forensic examination of the bags.
