POLICE officers have been called to Bents garden centre following an unauthorised traveller camp.

Caravans reportedly pitched up at Bents Garden and Home in Glazebury yesterday, Wednesday.

This is according to an unauthorised encampment log for Cheshire and Warrington operated by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The new encampment was uploaded onto the log by the Cheshire and Warrington Traveller Team in the past 24 hours.

The log adds that Cheshire Police was to attend the privately-owned site, on Warrington Road, to speak to the occupants of the three caravans and associated towing vehicles.

It is the latest in a spate of unauthorised traveller caravan camps in Warrington of late.

Four caravans and towing vehicles pitched up at Gateway Trade Park on Kerfoot Street in Bewsey on Monday.

A council officer was to make contact with the private landowner and the group has since left.

Two caravans and towing vehicles previously arrived at Webster Court in Westbrook on Sunday.

A council officer was due to contact the landowner due to the site being privately owned, with the group since vacating the location.

A third encampment, consisting of towing vehicles and four caravans, pitched up on Monday on Bowood Court, off Calver Road at Winwick Quay.

Again, a council officer was to contact the private landowner, but the group has also now left.
