Police hunt bike-riding brick-hurling yob with pink bag after Hanley salon vandal attack

Police are hunting a brick-hurling yob with a pink bag who smashed the window of a Hanley hairdressers. Charlie Brown's Hair Studio, on Cheapside in the city centre, was targeted overnight on Monday going into Tuesday (April 23).

Photos from the scene showed officers outside Charlie Brown's at 5.15am yesterday after first being alerted at 4.20am. The suspect was seen riding a bike and was described as wearing all black clothing and was carrying a pink rucksack.

The salon vandal attack came on the same night windows at Greggs, Poundland and Butters John Bee in Upper Market Square were also broken, causing £5,000 of damage. However, Staffordshire Police believe the two incidents are not linked.

A force spokesman said: "We’re still appealing for witnesses re the Charlie Brown Hair Salon criminal damage."

The vandalism represents more anti-social behaviour in the city centre. StokeonTrentLive reported how j officers seized a fake handgun and monkey dust after searching a man on Lamb Street earlier this month.

That came after officers had been called to Boots where two men swiped an electric razor while cops were again in that area following reports a man had left Greggs without paying for sandwiches.

Last month a man was stabbed during a morning brawl on Hope Street. Following that disorder police issued CCTV images of five people they want to speak to.

Chief Inspector Scott McGrath had previously spoken of the work ongoing to tackle anti-social behaviour in Hanley. The commander for Stoke-on-Trent South Local Policing Team, said: "We want to carry on tackling the issues that matter most to local people by being visible and acting robustly on the information that local residents and businesses give us.

"Patrols in the area will be continuing as part of our dedicated efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour and other local priorities on a pro-active scale."
