Police have increased patrols near the Royal Pavilion after reports of antisocial behaviour.

Brighton and Hove Police officers have been walking around Pavilion Gardens to monitor the situation.

A spokesman for Brighton and Hove Police said: "Our officers have been patrolling Pavilion Gardens in Brighton, following reports of antisocial behaviour in the area.

"Do you need some help? Our team are here for you. Please come and speak to us and if you have any information or concerns about issues in your area, contact us via our website http://spkl.io/618047uI2 or 101.

"In an emergency it is always 999."

Plans to erect a fence around the gardens to help prevent antisocial behaviour were put forward but put back by the council in May.

Historic England has included the gardens on its “at risk” register since 2017 and commissioned a “Heritage Crime Report” from specialists Aldwic Research Consultancy alongside Brighton and Hove Museums Trust.

The report highlighted problems with antisocial behaviour, drug use, a high risk of serious crime and the potential for a terrorist attack against the Pavilion.
