Police launch murder probe after two women shot dead at house in St Leonards, East Sussex

Police have launched a murder probe after two women were found shot dead at a house in East Sussex.

Officers were called to the house in Bexhill Road, St Leonards, at 7.43pm on Friday to reports of a shooting.

Sussex Police confirmed that two women, aged 32 and 53, were killed.

Two other women – including one who is pregnant – were led to safety by officers at the scene. Police said both were uninjured but were taken to hospital suffering from shock.

A 35-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder two hours after police arrived at the scene. Both victims were known to the suspect, police said.

Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Tingley said: “Tragically two women… have died after being shot and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident but we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.”
