A popular cafe bar in a Swansea suburb is set to close. Mimi and Kiki's has only been in Clydach's High Street since March, 2023, but has said its doors are set to close on Saturday, May 25.

In a statement, those behind the eatery said their chef was set to leave, and they had now taken the decision to close the business all together, as they could not find a suitable replacement for her.

The venue had become popular for its menu which included baguettes and paninis, jacket potatoes and salads, pizzas, pastas, beers and coffees. For the latest restaurant reviews, sign up to our food and drink newsletter here.

It was run by sisters Mia McNab and Kristina Wadham, daughters of Raymond Di Francesco, the man behind Remo's cafe and Franco's takeaway and restaurant on Aberavon seafront, carrying on their family's entrepreneurial legacy. Mia said at the time of opening that the positivity of locals had been "refreshing", as there was excitement in the village that her family were opening another business and had chosen Clydach for its location. A statement on the closure read: "It breaks my heart to tell you that from Saturday, May 25, we will be closing. Our lovely chef Kerry is leaving, and we have been unable to find someone suitable to replace her. Other commitments mean that Kristina and I cannot give the cafe the time and energy it deserves.

"Going forward we will continue to look at options for both the business and building. Thank you so much to all those who supported us. We will miss you all. Mimi and Kiki."
