Popular YouTube channel Rate My Takeaway has uploaded a video while on a trip to Preston, visiting the 'cheapest fish and chips in the UK'.

The food reviewer, real name Danny Malin has amassed over 697,000 subscribers from his food-related videos. On the channel Rate My Takeaway, Danny visited the Queen Vic Fish and Chips on Moor Lane in Preston.

With a small portion of fish and chips at £5, the reviewer tries "the best cod money can buy" at the chippy. He also buys a chicken tikka pie for £1.90, potato scallop, small portion of peas, mild curry sauce, a pot of gravy and a can of cream soda.

Originally from Leeds, Danny is seemingly confused by the very Lancastrian concept of a butter pie, as he ponders of the concoction on the menu. After hearing what it is, clearly shocked he repeats: "Just potato and butter?"

Setting up his iconic table and chair outside the chippy, Danny is soon presented with his food. Having ordered a small fish and chips, the reviewer is surprised at the size of it, particularly as it was only £5 for the meal.

Danny tries the potato scallop first, saying it has "beautiful crispy batter". The chicken tikka pie is also a considerable size for only £1.90, which had a rather vibrant red filling.

Despite it's unique appearance, Danny seemed to enjoy the pie for its taste, but even more so for its price.

Then, came the pièce de résistance - the £5 fish and chips. Seemingly underwhelmed by the chips, Danny simply says "they're alright" with no further comment.

Tucking in to the fish, the cod looks meaty and well-battered. He says: "The fish and chips, you get a lot here and for £5. You get a nice piece of white fish encased in a crispy batter.

"You get a lot of chips there. For me, the chips just might be a little bit mismatched, a little bit overdone.

"Value for money, it's not one of those where I'm like, 'wow, that's the best fish and chips I've ever had', but I think value for money it's going to be hard to beat fish and chips for a fiver and it's quality enough."

Overall, he rates the Queen Vic a solid 8.5 out of 10 and says "this is what I call, cost of living friendly."
