Former Stoke City transfer targets Scott McKenna and Cedric Soares are among the Premier League players who will be looking for new clubs as free agents this summer.
Centre-back McKenna, aged 27, has been released by Nottingham Forest after spending the second half of the season just finished on loan at Copenhagen. Stoke had pursued a decent-sized bid for his services back when he was with Aberdeen in 2018 and 2019 but he ended up at the City Ground in 2020 and helped win promotion to the Premier League in 2022, when he was named played of the season. But he has fallen out of favour in the top flight, in part due to hamstring and collarbone injuries.
Soares was spotted at Clayton Wood back in the summer of 2015 as Mark Hughes eyed up a del with Sporting Lisbon but he ended up at Southampton and then moved on to Arsenal, where he has just been let go at the age of 32.

There are other familiar names who are leaving their clubs this summer including Jamal Lowe and Darren Randolph at Bournemouth, Saman Ghoddos at Brentford, Jack Cork and Johann Gudmundsson at Burnley, Dele Alli at Everton, Bobby Decordova-Reid at Fulham, Brandon Williams at Manchester United, Paul Dummett at Newcastle United, John Egan and Adam Davies at Sheffield United and Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga at Spurs.
Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara, who are leaving Liverpool, are among the players unlikely to be bound for the Championship but managers and recruitment bosses up and down the country will be analysing the latest catalogue of talent to see who could make a difference without a fee.
There are other players on this list who are still in talks about extending their stays at their current clubs beyond the expiry of their present deals on June 30.
