Brace yourselves, Liars – it looks like the game isn't over yet.

Pretty Little Liars creator I Marlene King hinted back in June that her new TV project The Perfectionists could provide a link back to her hit original series, and today (September 25) that tease turned out to be right on the money.

As The Hollywood Reporter states, Freeform has given out a pilot order to Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, with PLL stars Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis) and Janel Parrish (Mona Vanderwaal) set to reprise their roles for another series of drama and secrets.

"At Freeform, we are committed to delivering shows that push boundaries and become a part of our viewers' lives. Pretty Little Liars was a cultural phenomenon so it's no wonder fans wanted more," said Karey Burke, Executive VP of Programming and Development at Freeform.

"We can't wait to continue Marlene King's rich and revolutionary storytelling with a new crop of leading ladies from Beacon Heights who will hold just as many secrets and lies as Rosewood did."

The Perfectionists is based on Pretty Little Liars writer Sara Shepard's book, and follows the adventures of five high school students who bond over their mutual hatred of a school bully.

"Everything about the town of Beacon Heights seems perfect, from their top-tier college to their overachieving residents. But nothing in Beacon Heights is as it appears to be," Freeform's description of the series reads.

"The stress of needing to be perfect leads to the town's first murder. Behind every Perfectionist is a secret, a lie and a needed alibi."

"I'm beyond excited to continue my collaboration with Sara Shepard, Alloy, Freeform and Warner Horizon," I Marlene King said. "I can't wait to introduce our fans - and Sasha and Janel - to a new world of thrills and chills in Beacon Heights."

Pretty Little Liars delivered its final endgame in June after a seven-season run between 2010 and 2017.

The success of the show has already seen one PLL-verse spin-off, Ravenswood, air and be cancelled after one season, so here's hoping The Perfectionists impresses in its pilot and has a bit more staying power.

Or at the very least that we get some of our post-Pretty Little Liars finale questions answered.
