Prime Minister Theresa May pulls out of This Morning interview at the last minute

Prime Minister Theresa May pulled out of a live TV interview on This Morning with Phillip Schofield and Rochelle Humes.

May was due to take part in a sit down interview with the hosts, however as the show opened, Schofield explained that the chat would no longer be taking place.

Addressing viewers at home, the host revealed that the on-going Brexit negotiations had stopped her from heading to the ITV daytime show’s studio.

“Well, we’ve been telling you to expect the Prime Minister on our sofa and we’re going to have to disappoint,” Phillip said.

“We were told this morning that all would become clear, hasn’t yet, but obviously the reason she is not here today is to do with Brexit.”

Revealing that the Prime Minister has apologised for the last minute no-show, the host continued: “She sent her apologies and said that hopefully next week she will be able to do the chat she was going to do today.

“So I assume, during the course of the day, it will unfold as to why she’s not here.”

Viewers, who were poised for the all important interview to take place, expressed their annoyance at the last minute change.

May has previously appeared on This Morning to take part in the show’s 30th birthday celebrations.

The politician made a cameo appearance when she was asked to help Phillip get to the studio in time for the show’s special anniversary episode.

Speaking to Phillip on the phone in the clip, May could he heard telling the TV presenter: “Oh goodness. Not on This Morning’s 30th birthday. It’s This Morning’s 30th birthday, you absolutely have to be there… I know just the people who can help you.”

Having managed to get the issue sorted via the help of the Red Devils, the leader continued: “Remember Phillip, the nations going to be watching… good luck!”
