At the recent Buckingham Palace garden party, Prince William shared a charming insight into his son Prince Louis' bedtime routine. The 41 year old future king looked dapper as he hosted the prestigious event with cousins Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, and Mike Tindall.

Regrettably, Kate Middleton was absent due to her ongoing recovery from cancer treatment. However, William was accompanied by author Rowan Aderyn, a member of William's Homewards foundation, which is dedicated to combating homelessness.

At the gathering, Aderyn presented Prince William with a copy of his book, 'Homewards', to which the Prince expressed his delight. US Weekly quoted William expressing his gratitude for the gift: "The gift was one that William greatly appreciated," and sharing his eagerness to involve his son, "This is great, so inspirational," said William. "I'll read this to Louis tonight at bedtime."

It's worth noting that Prince William has previously discussed reading to his children at bedtime. In 2020, while visiting an ice cream shop in South Wales, he came across 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson and revealed to the Daily Mail, "I read this to our children all the time," reports the Mirror.

Prince William engaged in lighthearted banter over the benefits of bedtime story authors, jokingly suggesting that Julia Donaldson's books had been a lifesaver for many parents. He amusingly shared: "I said, 'Do you realise how many parents you have saved at bedtime? '" upon meeting the acclaimed author when awarding her a CBE.

The senior Royal doesn't limit his literary likes to Donaldson. He's also an avid fan of the works by former Britain's Got Talent judge, David Walliams, which he labelled as being "really, really good".

Kate Middleton is also keen on children's literature and has showcased this passion publicly. Kate managed to charm many a young heart when she took over CBeebies's coveted bedtime hour, captivating youngsters with her narration of The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark by Jill Tomlinson in 2022.

Kate, at 42 years old, isn't the first Royal to embark on storytelling through the small screen. She smoothly follows in her father-in-law's footsteps as Prince Charles had previously published his own children's book, The Old Man of Lochnagar penned to raise funds for The Prince's Trust back in 1980, and then proceeded to read it on television in 1984.
