Princess Anne leaves hospital after horse kick injury at Gatcombe Estate

The Princess Royal has left hospital where she was treated for minor head injuries and concussion after being struck by a horse. The Princess suffered a concussion on Sunday (June 23) while walking on her Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

After spending five nights in the Bristol hospital, the Princess has been discharged. It is thought that she will be returning home for further rest over the coming days.

A statement has been released today (June 28), confirming the Princess has been sent home from hospital. It said: "The Princess Royal has left Southmead Hospital in Bristol where she was being treated for minor head injuries and concussion and is at her Gatcombe Park home."

The Princess Royal's husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, has thanked the staff at Southmead Hospital following his wife's stay. He said: “I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise and kindness during my wife’s short stay.”

Details of the Princess Royal's injury have not been released. The princess's medical team said her head injuries were consistent with a potential impact from a horse's head or legs.
