For her appearance on the daytime talk show, Brunson embraced warm hues and cutouts in a Jonathan Simkhai top and skirt. The spring 2024 collection look featured white and orange hues and a creative pattern, which also highlighted circular cutouts on the skirt and top. Brunson’s long-sleeve shirt featured consecutive cutouts along the fabric.
Brunson’s hair was styled in a high ponytail, and she accessorized her look with a pair of small hoop earrings and a few delicate rings. She wore a pair of white sandal heels that complemented the ensemble as her finishing touch.
Jonathan Simkhai’s brand has long played with the concept of dichotomies. With his 2023 ready-to-wear collection, the designer experimented with knit fabrics, creating a variation on the designs from the fashion brand. What’s consistent through Simkhai’s designs, though, is the inspiration taken from architecture and sculpture, as seen through the lines and shapes his designs create within the silhouettes.
“Thinking about self-expression was a big thing for me. Looking at circles, how they feel like a feminine shape, the way they enclose everything, and then infinity — there are so many levels,” Simkhai said of his 2023 resort collection, which featured looks with circular shapes.
“There’s a whole theory about [‘Circles in a Circle’ artist and theorist Wassily] Kandinsky’s circles about working with children to express emotion, they’ll create circles in different colors, and the way they choose the colors and placement is different forms of expression. I think fashion is expression, obviously, so [I] was thinking about how I could turn this inspiration into a story.”
Founded in 2010, the Los Angeles-based fashion brand features unique silhouettes and an idiosyncratic construction of its designs. Mindy Kaling, Jessie James Decker and Keke Palmer have all worn Simkhai designs in the past.
