Taylor Swift fans heading to Edinburgh for the massive gig have hit out at hotel prices in the city.

Lily Winter, 29, will be travelling to Edinburgh in June and jokes that the prices for accommodation 'physically pains her' after she forked out £300.

After spending a small fortune on the VIP ticket, the DJ from Bristol then had to hand over £300 for a bed in a shared hostel. Lily shared on TikTok that in total, her hotel and flight cost her more than the VIP ticket itself.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Lily explained that she paid 'just under' £390 for one ticket as it was a VIP ticket on the first night. This includes early entry and will be front left standing.

She said: "It was £300 for two nights for a hostel in Edinburgh. I'm staying in a shared dorm with five other people. It was stressful especially because I'm going on my own and I've got no one to share the financial burden with.

"As soon as I got a ticket in the presale, I looked for somewhere to stay. The cheapest thing I could find was an AirBnB in Glasgow. I booked that as a backup at first. But since I'm traveling alone, I wanted to stay somewhere closer to the venue.

"So I checked in Edinburgh and that's when I got the bed in a hostel for around £300 for two nights. I think £150 a night for a bed in a shared hostel is just barbaric. But when I was looking at hotels, the cheapest was £400 a night, which is just crazy. It's so much money.

"It's been really stressful. I should have booked a room somewhere when the dates were announced, even before I got a ticket to try and get something for a reasonable rate."

She added: "I am still looking forward to the gig but I am feeling really nervous about the amount of money I am spending. The cost of living is definitely affecting so many of us. But I'm reminding myself this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I have been a fan of Taylor Swift since I was 14, but I do wish the prices were more reasonable."

Lily took to TikTok where she shared her experience. Posting a video of herself looking concerned as Taylor Swift sings 'I cry a lot', Lily wrote: "Me after having to drop nearly £300 for a bed in a hostel dorm to see Taylor." She added: "It physically pains me."

Many flocked to comments, with one writing: "I live in Edinburgh and it's actually insane seeing the hotel prices compared to how much they normally are here."

Lily replied: "Have you got a spare room by any chance?"

Another said: "I booked in Glasgow and it was so expensive."

"I sold my Edinburgh ticket because I couldn't get there. It was going to cost me more than the ticket."

Taylor Swift will be performing at Murrayfield for three nights between June 7-10.
