Rangers transfer news bulletin as Nathaniel Adjei silence broken while Relebohile Mofokeng coy on future

Hammarby's sporting director Mikael Hjelmberg has left the door open for Nathaniel Adjei to leave the club for Rangers this summer.

Philippe Clement is in the midst of a massive overhaul of the Scottish Premiership side with the Ghanaian centre-back the latest name to emerge as a target for the Light Blues. The 21-year-old is set to return to the Swedish side from Lorient after spending last season on loan in France. The Ligue 1 side had an obligation to buy the defender - reportedly valued at around £3.5million - should they avoid relegation.

But with Lorient dropping to the French second-tier, Adjei is set to return to his parent club with the Light Blues, Anderlecht, Feyenoord, Strasbourg and Reims all linked with an approach. And chief Hjelmberg appears to be keen on sparking a bidding war - with reports in Sweden suggesting the club are looking for £5million to sell the returning star this summer.

Asked about interest from Rangers and Anderlecht in Adjei - with the duo said to be leading the signing race - he told Fotbollskanalen : "It's no secret that Adjei had an option to buy while he was in France, and he has done well in France. So we'll see what happens."

Relebohile Mofokeng is another who has been heavily linked with a move to Rangers this summer. The 19-year-old wonderkid has taken South African football with Orlando Pirates by storm and is attracting interest from across the globe.

Mofokeng - who was on trial with Wolves las October - has also been touted with a move to Levante. But he was playing his cards close to his chest over a move, stating to the iDiski Times: “I don’t know anything about teams overseas looking at me. I am playing for Pirates and I am only focusing on Pirates.

"If teams want me they will have to speak to the chairman, I don’t know anything. I am only playing for Pirates, I am not focusing on the rumours.

“Football is football – it is the same Whether you are playing in the Premier League or in the PSL (South Africa Premier Division), football is the same, nothing changes. It’s just the facilities they have there are different from here but everything else is the same.”

Elsewhere, Ryan Kent is on the lookout for a new club with Fenerbahce looking to move the star on after a disappointing spell in Turkey. And he could be handed a career lifeline by Gio van Bronckhorst.

The former Rangers boss is now in charge of Besiktas - and has reportedly recommended the winger to club chiefs. It is expected that the Van Bronckhorst's men will make "contact" over signing Kent imminently, according to Fotomac.
