Rashford Named In England's Euro 2016 Squad

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has been included in England manager Roy Hodgson's final 23-man squad for Euro 2016.

The news is the latest chapter in the youngster's meteoric rise to prominence, having only made his club debut a matter of months ago.

Rashford, 18, scored within three minutes of his first England appearance against Australia on Friday, having netted eight times in 18 games for United.

His breakthrough cast doubt on the place of Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, but he has been named as one of five strikers for the tournament in France, despite a calf problem.

Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater and Newcastle United's Andros Townsend, who were both named in Hodgson's provisional 26-man squad, miss out, along with Fabian Delph, who had already dropped out due to injury.

Drinkwater wrote on Twitter: "Disappointed not to make the final 23! Would of been a fantastic experience to go to the euros as a player."

Hodgson was required to whittle down his squad by Tuesday's UEFA deadline.

England begin their campaign against Russia in Marseille on 11 June, and will also play Wales and Slovakia as they battle to progress from Group B to the knockout phase.
